We are surely living in a time of great transformations, even if the distance of time does not yet allow us to realise it. It is therefore more necessary than ever to question what is happening around us, whether the direction of the world is the one we really want, or whether the society we are building is the one we want. Only if we stop for a moment in our frenetic lives will we be able to reflect on this. Because thinking is an increasingly difficult exercise for our monkey brains, jumping from one stimulus to another, incapable of stringing together one thought after
another that allows us to analyse reality.
This book (and exhibition) is a collection of visual thoughts, or in other words, ideas transformed into images. Its purpose is to contribute to reflection through a set of questions, illustrated with graphics, which help us to raise questions about different themes and problems. The charts shown are not based on concrete statistics (except for a few), so they are not a faithful reflection of reality, at least not of reality based on data. They only show in a visual way reflections or issues with which you may agree or disagree.
Throughout its ninety pages, the book shows 40 graphics on different issues as varied as democracy, urban tourism, climate change, fake news, the uberisation of the economy and artificial intelligence, among others.
Each piece consists of an idea represented by a graphic accompanied by a series of questions that encourage the reader to reflect on it.
